Secure your website to appease the Google gods

Our web development team gets two frequent questions from clients and prospects:

-How to I keep my site secure?

-How do I rank well on Google search results?

Fortunately, you can make a single update to your site that will help with both security and Google search visibility.

The mysterious, magical update is: Get an SSL certificate installed on your site.

With an SSL certificate, your site’s URL will begin with “https” instead of “http.” (The extra “s” stands for secure.)

Okay, maybe it’s not so mysterious. In fact, Google has been publicly recommending that all websites utilize an SSL certificate. To drive the point home, Google warned that beginning this month (July 2018), “http” sites will soon have “Not Secure” shown next to their URL.

So, if your website doesn’t have an SSL certificate, now is the time to act. If you have any questions or need assistance obtaining an SSL certificate for you site, feel free to call our web department at 877-302-5185, or email me directly at mike@kbc.us. We can get it installed for you, and you’ll be well on your way to securing your site and pleasing the Google gods.
