PR Tips | Hit the Refresh Button

We just redesigned our website here at Keybridge Communications after only two years. Why so soon? For us, there were several reasons.

First, we recently expanded our core services to include Web Development, Graphic Design and Social Media — and these new services needed to have their own place on our website.

Second, our original website was created in Flash, and with the ever-changing technology on phones and tablets, we needed to stay up-to-date.

Third, we felt that our business, clients, potential clients, and followers would benefit from a blog.

So how do you know when it’s time for a website makeover? Here are a few questions to ask yourself that might help you decide:

When was the last time your site was updated? The general consensus in the marketing world is that you should redesign every 3 years to avoid losing out to a competitor who is more current. Chances are, one or more of your competitors are already redesigning their site — or contemplating it — right now.

Has your business evolved or changed significantly? If so, it’s an ideal time to give your company’s site a makeover.

Is your website traffic consistent? If it has dropped, are you taking  advantage of critical new technologies like mobile optimization and blogs?

Perhaps most important, how does your site compare to your competition?

Is your design sized properly to today’s larger screens and easy to navigate? Since technology and screen sizes are ever-changing, you want to be sure that your design is properly formatted across all platforms of media.

Is your website integrated with today’s social media world? Does it encourage visitors to interact with you through LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and RSS feeds to name just a few?

Redesigning your site is no small task, but the benefits can be enormous. It can help you redefine your services, reinvigorate your business, and leap ahead of the competition.
